A blend of Melon de Bourgogne, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. This wine has an intense pear and vanilla nose, a citrus rind mid body finishing with citrus lemon butter tones.
Highly aromatic with complex citrus notes
This wine is a variation on last year’s Quartet. I took the Pinot Blanc out of the blend to spotlight the Melon de Bourgogne.
The Melon was grown in the Dundee Hills and picked unusually late, due to a cool Oregon summer. The fruit was very aromatic during fermentation. The Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc were sourced from the Columbia Valley of Washington.
The Melon and Chardonnay were taken through malolactic, while the Sauvignon Blanc was held after primary fermentation. All the wines were stirred on the lees for 10 months before blending and bottling.
Alcohol 14%
August 2009: Well integrated citrus rind and grapefruit flavors accented by a pear and vanilla nose.
