We settled in Oregon in 1983 and quickly became enamored of the wines of the Willamette Valley. When a friend needed help at her winery, we jumped at the chance. We spent several years as part time "cellar rats," learning the basics of winemaking. It didn't take us long to understand that making great wine requires great grapes. We realized that if we were ever to make our ideal wine, it would have to start in our own vineyard.
The Eola Hills region of the Willamette Valley is famous for deeply colored and richly flavored Pinot Noir. We found a hilly, rocky site there in 1995, exactly what we wanted for this temperamental but rewarding grape, and began planting.
Our first commercial vintage was released in 2000.
